Are we pointing the finger at artificial intelligence (AI), embracing it or simply not caring about it?
Hi Its Craig Connelly
here from Conversion Plus.
No matter what category you fall into above, AI is one topic you should be paying very close attention to if you own a business or do any form of digital marketing.
So, what is artificial intelligence (AI) and why should you care?
Artificial intelligence (AI) is often depicted in the media as shiny robots buzzing around carrying out household chores for humans.
In digital marketing however, shiny robots have nothing to do with AI and although they are cute in a metallic sort of way, the reality is that AI is all about inputting data into an algorithm on a machine so it can learn.
The difference being that the algorithm inside the machine can often outperform a human.
You can see a demo of a bot on this page.
Try it out. I build these specifically for all types of businesses and they work well for increasing conversions.
Up to 200% better in fact.
The experts are predicting that AI could deliver $13 trillion in additional global economic activity by 2030 and play a big part in all our lives.
We are used to chatting with people and its growing every day.
Facebook messenger, house party, whats app and so on.
OK.....sounds awesome, and yes I would like a piece of 13 trillion in my piggybank, but I guess you are more interested to know how your business or your clients can get a piece of that pie too..........but not in 2030, right now!
The good news is you don't have to wait! AI is working right now.....in fact
AI is a gold mine in disguise
A goldmine that is yet to be discovered by your competition, and let's be clear about this, the gold rush of AI in digital marketing will happen down the track! It always does....
Cast your mind back to the time when houses sold for the same price as a 2 year salary.
To a time when Facebooks ad platform got amazing conversions at just pennies.....
Listen Up: Artificial intelligence (AI) is here now and it is helping business owners get more leads and quality customers for a fraction of the normal rate right now.
That is a very important piece of information if you own a business and use Facebook and Google to advertise your business, or if you intend doing so in the near future.
The reality is most business owners do not understand how AI works and most likely will not take the time to understand it until it's too late.
They are not smart cocoa drinking thinkers with comfortable chairs like we are!
Which is why this could be a huge benefit to your business or to your clients.
But before we get into that I want to take you back to the past so you can see a very important trend.
So gather your ugg boots and short shorts, your pop collars and trucker hats and come with me back to to 2007 when facebook first started their ad platform.....
Back in '07, business owners were able to get their advertising messages in front of a very large and very willing global audience inexpensively.
Overnight millionaires were made on Facebook, flash cars were bought, new white shiny teeth were acquired, gurus were created and all from cheap targeted traffic.
They were as we like to call them, the "early adopters" The people that were crushing it while a lot of others ignored it.
The sad thing was folk assumed their expensive newspaper ads and magazine ads would continue to work for many years to come, where as the early adopters broke away from the norm and made fortunes.
Roll onto 2018 and Facebook is no longer getting penny conversions. To dominate Facebook using their traditional ad platform, you will now need a substantial budget. And I mean substantial.
Facebook's ad revenue for 2018 will be slightly over 40 billion and I can tell you I don't contribute much to that anymore compared with a year ago. The conversion costs are too high for my clients.
By the way this was Facebooks first logo below....

Interestingly most of the early adopters (the ones who got the cheap traffic in 2007 and onwards) have moved away from Facebook now. Where have they moved to? You guessed it... AI of course.
Facebook's history creates a powerful lesson for us, and one that was repeated when TV first came out in the 40's and 50's. Some businesses opted to stay with radio advertising, that's what they knew and loved and thought would last forever, the early adopters moved to TV and made fortunes.
Television advertising is still very popular and expensive. But is if effective for ads?
Not sure about your house but in mine the ads are muted and everyone pulls out their mobile phone and ignores the TV. Except the dog!

Try getting someone to look at a poster ads pasted on the inside of a train or bus. Forget it, the eyes are all on mobile phones now.

The point being that when new technology comes along it gives business owners and marketers an opportunity that most of his /her competition fail to recognise. Mobile marketing is a prime example of this.
How many businesses split test ads to mobile versus desktop?
From what I have seen the answer is very few.
AI is the next incoming technology, it's arrived and it's going to affect us all more than anything in the history of humans.
The ability to teach a machine with a few clicks and then have it do better than a human is here, it's arrived and businesses are starting to jump on it. Are you?
